Transfer of Votes and Appointment of Proxies

The Commission wishes to inform the General Public that in line with Public Election Regulation, 1996 (CI. 15) sub-regulations 20(1) and 23(1);

1.    Applications for Transfer of votes will commence on October 27, 2008 and end on November 17, 2008.
2.    Application for Proxy Voting will commence on October 27, 2008 and end on November 17, 2008.

The Commission further directs that:

1.    Applicants for Transfer should appear in person.
2.    Prospective applicants should have resided in their present constituencies for not less than two (2) months to the date of the application.
3.    Bulk or Group transfer will not be entertained.
4.    No Political Party or Organization should undertake transfer on behalf of voters.
5.    Transfers to adjacent constituencies and within a Metropolis or a Municipal will not be permitted.
6.    Applications for bulk Proxy Voting could be considered for recognized bodies e.g. Members of Security Agencies on UN Missions, Staff of Ghana’s Foreign Missions and other International Organizations, Students on Government Scholarship abroad and Moslems undertaking a Hajj.
7.    All Transfer and Proxy applications will be processed at all the District Offices of the Commission.
